Energy recovery during movement is called recuperation. When you brake, ride downhill and pedal backwards, the kinetic energy generated is converted into electricity and partially recharges the battery. Manufacturers estimate the benefit of such regeneration at an average of 15-20%, depending on the length and gradient of hills and intensity of pedaling. Apart from that, the electric drive is very simple. The Backspin has no display, control unit, or any other on/off switch for the system. Activation turns on through pedaling. You need to reach a minimum speed of 8 km/h and then pedal backwards three times to activate the motor. The quiet noise of the motor indicates whether it is working. The drive automatically shuts off if the bike remains still for just 2 minutes.
Flexible drive control
You can adjust the motor support through a mobile app. The Zehus motor offers three levels of assistance: Eco, Turbo, and Turbo-Custom. In these modes, you can adjust the torque and speed. You can also select the level of recuperation. By the way, in Turbo mode, recuperation is disabled by default.

Although the battery and motor form an "all-in-one" unit, the system weighs only 3.2 kg, contributing to the bike's total weight of 13.3 kg. Thanks to its light weight, you can ride up to 35 km in Turbo mode. The battery has a capacity of 172 Wh and charges via a socket hidden in the rear hub. Just remove the protective cover on the drive side and plug in the charger. A full charge takes 3 hours.

The electric bicycle stands out thanks to its motor, but the other components are equally impressive. The saddle, grips, pedals, tires, fenders, and other parts are all top-notch. The handlebar and seat post from Lightskin have built-in lights that charge via a micro USB port.

Technical features
1. The Italian brand Zehus produces unique rear hubs with built-in electric motors. They combine the motor, electronics, and battery. You can use three levels of support: Eco, Turbo, Turbo-Custom. Riding without assistance r is also possible.
